Bass Buggie Setup & Adjustment

1) With your bass on its side fit endpin through the plastic loop end of buggie.

2) Set the top side of the buggie chassis onto the side of the bass and bring the strap up the side.

3) Then bring the bungie cord around the neck securing end of bungie cord to the bungie buckle open hook.

Using the Buggie
The Buggie is very simple to use - in fact, we believe that is one of the reasons why it has been so successful! We recommend you take a few moments and watch the video at left to become familiar with how to attach the buggie to your bass and adjust it for a perfect fit.

The Bass Buggie Allows Easy, Convenient Bass Transport.

•Does not put pressure on the lower block like an endpin wheel or "bass wheel", including pressure from bumps in the walkway!

Allows the bass to stand upright.

•Works indoors as well as outdoors.

•Can strap onto the bass body with or without a bag.

•Adjusts to any size bass from 1/10 to 4/4.

•Made in the U.S.A.

Still not convinced?
  1. The Bass Buggie body:

•Can strap onto the bass body with or without a bag.

•Is made of durable high impact molded plastic.

•Overall dimensions are 36cm length and 16cm in diameter (wheels, height & width).

•Inside platform length is 28.5cm.

•Weight is 3 lbs., 2 oz.

•It straps onto the endpin-body and the neck of the bass.

•Adjusts to any size bass from 1/10 to 4/4.

•Has non-marking durable wheels

Unlike a "bass wheel", the Buggie:

•Rolls easily and straight on ball bearing wheels.

•Can make the bass stand upright on its own without support.

•Allows endpin to remain in place while in use.

•Does not put pressure on the lower block and prevents impact to the lower block from bumps in walkway.

•Has a flexible body that allows shock absorption, therefore, further protecting the instrument.

•For very rough terrain, the 'buggie Cushion' (see below) can be attached to the bass buggie body.

Two Simple Adjustments:
The Buggie is designed to adjust to fit any size of double-bass. There are two adjustments that you will want to be familiar with as you set up and begin using your Buggie. Although, you may find that your buggie is already setup perfectly for your bass!

1) With the bass on its side, put the buggie's loop over the endpin. The body of the buggie should contact the bass at the bass's heel. The key to having your bass stand up (unattended) on the buggie is to adjust the distance between the plastic loop and the buggie body (photo at left) so that the bass is balanced when standing.

2) Next, you will want to adjust the tension for the top buckle. This is easily done by moving the buckle closer or further from the buggie. When securing the strap to your bass, we recommend running the strap under the fingerboard and then behind the neck of the bass (see photo at left). If you are using a bass case, you will want to place the securing straps around the bass at a slightly higher position: just below the heel of the neck of the bass.

* The pictures and video show how the Bass Buggie should be adjusted, which allows the bass to stand upright on its own. But do not leave it unattended! The Buggie is not intended to be a stand. If you're looking for a Bass Stand, click here.

Why is a "Bass Wheel" Harmful?

Plain and simple: excessive pressure and torque is applied to the instrument. As a bass musician would you ever drop your bass from a height of just 3 inches and let it land on the endpin? Of course you wouldn't! The pressure/force from the bass falling 3 inches and landing on the endpin is very similar to the pressure that will likely be exerted at times on your bass if you choose to use an end-pin wheel.

How do you remove the husk from a coconut? You jam a tapered stick into the husk and twist. The same type of force is applied to the block of a bass by an end pin wheel: wedge on a lever + torque + shock. Don't risk damaging your bass with an end-pin wheel.

With the Bass Buggie there is no more force put on the edges of a bass than is put on the bass when it is laid on its side on the floor.
Buggie Cushion:

The Buggie Cushion provides for extra cushioning in very rough terrains. It attaches to the Bass Buggie body with industrial strength velcro, included with the cushion.

Happy Bass Buggie Owners:

I have to tell you how much I love my new bass buggie. I have played bass seriously since 1993 and have tried handtrucks, bass wheels, shoulder straps and homemade dollies. This product is by far the best I have used. Lightweight, small and easy to pack, goes on the bass with the case or without. I will recommend it to my students. Thank you again.

I love my bass buggy! I have a small bass but I am a short lady, I needed some "wheels" in a bad way! Some friends got together and bought me a bass buggy for a present, it is awesome! I"m strutting around as if I had been given a new vehicle! It "saves" my back so much that it is not an issue anymore to get it in and out of the house and loaded. It's great that it "stands" while I open doors, etc. Walking up a hill is so much easier with the bass in my "hand" instead of trying to carry it and walk. A very well thought out invention!

This is just a belated "thank you" for your help in getting the bass buggie. I have been happily using it with my Violone and I LOVE it!! Quick to put on and take off, wheels that work wonderfully, instrument feels very protected and so does my back. Everyone who sees it thinks it's a really ""cool"" thing too. So maybe you will be getting more orders from the early music community around Boston. Thank you again.

The product is the best thing for moving a bass around. I am so glad to have found your web site and the product. It certainly made life easier for me as I had to haul my bass from the van to the stage which was across a football field. Not being a spring chicken anymore, I was very pleased to be able to have the bass buggy. Thanks for a wonderful invention.

This double bass buggie is fantastic! You've saved my spine, not to mention my sanity. It's easy to put on, and easy to trundle the bass around. Makes moving a bass as easy as walking around.

Just a quick note to say how delighted I am with the Bass Buggie now that I have had a chance to use it, So easy to strap on and take off in seconds - a real boon when transporting through long Hotel corridors etc. It is absolutely brilliant. I will certainly recommend it to my fellow bass players at every opportunity.
Best regards,

I didn't take the chance to thank you for the wonderful bass buggies. Many of my customers have been raving about it.

Wanted to tell you how much I appreciate my bass buggy. Has made life much easier! Several fellow bassists have tried it out and are interested. Many thanks to the guy who thought it up and developed it. I especially like its ability to stand by itself while I open the door on my SUV!

The few Buggies I have sold here have made great impressions with their new owners. No idea how I ever lived without one.

Thanks for this great product, by the way! It has nearly saved my career, as I have a back injury that has made carrying the bass a real pain.

The Double Bass Buggie is an ingenious way to roll around a bass! It's easy to attach and creates no stress on the lower block.

Where were you guys 50 years ago? I can't believe how beautiful this buggie works. The first time I used it was at Hotel Hershey in Hershey, PA. Naturally, musicians are second rate citizens so we enter thru the rear & thru the kitchen. I go down a service ramp, thru 3 big rubber doors, down a hallway, up an elevator, & across the hall into the ballroom. For a 72 year old bugger, this was a cakewalk. Thanks again.

We (from England) bought the Bass Buggie a few months ago but this is the first time we have really used it properly. I am 10 and we had to park in a car park to get to my Bass lesson. My teacher thought it was really good for wheeling longer distances. It is really smooth and the video on the website is quite good for showing you how to fix it on. The steering is quite hard at first but I guess we're all learner drivers when it comes to Bass Buggies.
