From The Past To Today - Part 4

Anton's Journey
In the past newsletters, you have learned a lot about Misha Krutz's journey from Russia to Kansas City. Something you haven't learned about is how one of his sons, Anton, matured to be his business partner, establishing K.C. Strings, KRUTZ Strings and St. Louis Strings!

When Anton was about 12 years old, and while he was exploring his interests, he found himself learning how to paint and make pottery. To keep Anton busy around that time, Misha also had him learn how to rehair bows.
Anton's interest of working with bows and instruments grew and Anton asked if he could spend time at the violin shop of well known Kansas City luthier Earsel Atchley (featured in the photos with Anton). So every Saturday Misha would drop Anton off and tell him to be back home by 5 p.m. With a good sense of humor, Mr. Atchley would tell Misha that he owed him for 'babysitting' Anton but in the end he never expected him to pay!

After high school, Anton desired to continue cultivating his love for working with string instruments and moved to Salt Lake City to study at the internationally known Violin Making School of America. Upon studying and working in different prestigious shops across the country, Anton ended up in the violin shop of Philip Injean across from Carnegie Hall and then with the David Gage Bass shop in New York. After Anton had these experiences, Misha called and talked to him about coming back home to Kansas City...
