The 9th annual Summer Music Camp, led by K.C. Strings studio teacher Bob Hagenbuch, will be held at the K.C. Strings shop and studio in Merriam (5842 Merriam Dr., Merriam, KS 66203). Beginners' camp for players with less than 3 years experience is scheduled for July 13-17, and the intermediate camp is scheduled for July 20-24. All camp sessions run 9am-1pm Monday-Friday. A 12:30pm Friday concert concludes each session.
"Our camp activities intend to fill students' minds with wonderful music-making and learning experiences," Bob said. This is his seventh year leading the camp. He will be assisted by his daughter Breanna, an accomplished violinist studying at William Jewell College.
This year's camp theme will be "Famous Cartoon Themes." Three or four pieces of serious string orchestral works are specifically arranged to fit each camp group. Within the large ensemble rehearsals, students learn about orchestral performance details and techniques. Individual and sectional coaching facilitate development of string playing techniques. Music theory and composer history applicable to the selected music will be incorporated daily.
Both camps cost $200.00 for the week. Registration by email may be done with Bob at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at K.C. Strings, 913-677-0400. You may also visit kcstrings.com main page for downloadable PDF file. A minimum $50.00 down payment is required with registration. K.C. Strings reserves the right to cancel the camp sessions if minimum enrollment is not met. Please register soon and bring a friend. Intermediate camp fills up quickly.
